WordHack is a monthly evening of performances and talks exploring the intersection of language and technology. Code poetry, digital literature, e-lit, devArt, coders interested in the creative side, writers interested in new forms writing can take, all are welcome here. We also have an OPEN PROJECTOR (like an open mic for digital work) where anyone can come up and show their work (for 5 minutes). Signup starts at 6:45, performers start at 7:15. He was trained as a painter. Later took up photography. And now performs and creates across mediums that is less new media and more post-internet. Essentially, he chases dick wherever it takes him. He was featured at the New York Photo Festival. Honored as a Discovery Award nominee at Les Rencontres d’Arles in France. And has been a regular on the NYC alternative scene — showing at ABC No Rio, Cuchifritos, Exit Art, Front Room, Momenta Art, Rush Arts, and now for WordHack at Babycastles. He was recently commissioned by Rhizome at the New Museum to release his porn collection to the public. This zip file was named by Hyperallergic as one of the top 10 works of internet art in 2015. He will be reading from this epic work at WordHack. PAUL LEGAULT is the author of four collections of poetry, including The Madeleine Poems (Omnidawn), The Other Poems (Fence), The Emily Dickinson Reader (McSweeney’s) and Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror 2 (Fence). Legault was born in Canada. He's here: theotherpaul.com MASHA TUPITSYN is a writer, critic, and multi-media artist. She is the author of the books Like Someone in Love: An Addendum to Love Dog (Penny-Ante Editions, 2013) Love Dog (Penny-Ante Editions, 2013), a multi-media art book, LACONIA: 1,200 Tweets on Film (ZerO Books, 2011), Beauty Talk & Monsters, a collection of film-based stories (Semiotext(e) Press, 2007), co-editor of the anthology Life As We Show It: Writing on Film (City Lights, 2009). In 2015, she completed Love Sounds, a 24-hour audio-essay and history of love in cinema, which concludes an immaterial trilogy. Most recently, she made The Tarot Diaries https://soundcloud.com/tarotdiaries, an audio diary and mixtape about fate and future in late capitalism Her fiction and criticism have appeared or is forthcoming in numerous anthologies and journals.
